Types of Lab Work Available
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
Performed in our in-house lab, IVF involves combining eggs and sperm to facilitate fertilization, creating embryos. This process addresses fertility challenges, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy. Eggs are carefully retrieved, fertilized, and the resulting embryos are then transferred to the uterus for potential implantation and the development of a healthy pregnancy.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)
Prior to transferring embryos into the uterus, our labs conduct genetic testing on each embryo to identify any genetic abnormalities. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT), an IVF technique, allows for the genetic screening of embryos before transfer. This optimizes embryo selection and enhances the chances of successful implantation and pregnancy.
Cryopreservation
After fertilization and preimplantation genetic testing, the embryos are cryopreserved and are safely stored in our labs. Cryopreservation involves carefully freezing the embryos until the optimal time for transfer into the uterus. Our laboratories are led by High-Complexity Laboratory Directors (HCLDs), who are individuals with specialized training and qualifications in clinical laboratories, specifically in labs with high-complexity testing.
While other lab directors can oversee certain types of laboratory operations, our HCLDs are specifically trained and qualified to manage high-complexity labs, which include most of the common procedures conducted in fertility clinics. Because of the complexity of reproductive technology and the need for precise and accurate results, the role of an HCLD is essential in our IVF laboratory.
