Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment modality in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Thin hair-like needles are inserted on multiple acupuncture points to promote Qi(energy) and blood flow to all the organs. Acupuncture encourages natural healing and homeostasis, resulting in overall wellness.

What is Fertility Acupuncture?

When is the best time to start Fertility Acupuncture?

When you start dreaming about having a baby and growing a family, that is the best, golden time to start fertility acupuncture. At RFC, we highly encourage our patients to spend a minimum of 3 months of preconception care period, or in other terms, the time recommended to prepare your body for successful conception. We understand that you might not have the required three months to prepare for pregnancy. If this is the case, please contact us to customize your treatment plan to create the most optimal chance of success.

During the preconception care, our focus is on optimizing your condition, best suitable for pregnancy. Just like you take time to do prep courses before an important exam or game.

Benefits: prepare a healthy pregnancy by improving overall wellness – making sure all your systems are working well, supporting the reproductive system, a higher chance of conception, reducing the chance of miscarriage and pregnancy complications

As fertility coaches and acupuncturists, we are here to provide a personalized coaching service – nutrition, fertility-boosting diet, supplements, and a healthy lifestyle. Fertility Acupuncture will guide you to get to your goal faster and healthier.

If you are already in an IUI or IVF cycle...

We strongly recommend setting up an initial consultation as soon as possible so that we can have enough time to see improvements before your next step.
We will focus specifically on improving egg/sperm quantity and quality, uterine environment, supporting insemination and embryo transfer day, implantation support – targeted treatment at each stage and every step of your ART(Assisted Reproductive Techniques).

Hear what others are saying about our services!

“One of the biggest blessings to come from RFC was Iris, our acupuncturist. I started going weekly once we started our IVF in March. I didn’t know what to think of acupuncture, but I had heard success from others, so I said, why not? It couldn’t hurt at all. Iris is so wonderful, and she focused on many issues I had going on, including my heavy periods, restless sleep, and monthly migraines. Her main goal was to restore blood flow to my uterus in preparation for my upcoming retrieval and transfer.

We had our egg retrieval in April 2021 and took a month’s break to prepare for transfer. Physically and emotionally, I was overwhelmed, so I kept up with acupuncture in the meantime because it was important to me, and I was so hopeful for my embryo transfer. In the month of waiting between our egg retrieval and our embryo transfer, we fell pregnant naturally! After 8 years of infertility with not even one pregnancy since our infertility journey began, we were so surprised to be pregnant within two months of doing acupuncture.

During an appointment with Iris, she felt my radial pulse-like she had always done. She knew I was pregnant 5 days before I even had a positive pregnancy test. That is seriously how good she is. I have to admit I was unsure and hesitant about acupuncture at first, but I was willing to try anything to help. It turned out to be the best thing we ever did, and I would recommend Iris and acupuncture 1,000%. It was worth every penny because we now have a miracle baby growing and are almost 11 weeks with the blessing that we didn’t know was possible.

My biggest regret was not coming here sooner and not doing acupuncture sooner. There aren’t enough thank yous to RFC, Dr. Park, Isabel, and Iris for the way we were taken care of. I would also like to thank the girls at the front who were so welcoming and, after seeing my face so many times, were always so excited to see me again.”

This review goes out to Iris, who did all my acupuncture while I was a patient at RFC. I was skeptical at first since I had never had acupuncture, but after 4 failed IUI’s at my previous fertility doctor’s office, I was willing to try it. I had very low AMH and was told by my previous fertility doctor that IVF was my only option. I had my first acupuncture a few hours after my first IUI with Dr. Lin, and I absolutely loved it. Iris really helped me to relax and get in touch with my body. She is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to listen and educate in ways that just make sense. I continued to see Iris once a week, and I am now 9 weeks pregnant! I urge anyone struggling with fertility to do their research, and they will find there are lots of benefits to doing acupuncture in conjunction with an IUI. I cannot recommend Iris enough!

Meredith was so wonderful. Each session she asked about my well-being and any new symptoms that came up as I progressed through my first trimester. She showed genuine concern and compassion and listened very well. I feel like my weekly treatments really did keep the most severe 1st trimester symptoms at bay. So I am grateful for the services that I received.

Iris is a very caring individual not to mention an expert in her field- she has a holistic approach meaning she also recommends herbal medicine in conjunction with acupuncture. Our experience with Iris was truly wonderful as she helped make an otherwise stressful time more comforting. Best of all, through it all we successfully had our miracle baby boy.

Sam A.

When I began my fertility journey I didn’t expect acupuncture to be part of my process! My journey with Iris was a result of a canceled IVF cycle. I was at a very low point when this happened and Iris not only helped me regain some trust but also helped me regain happiness in this difficult journey. She helped me grow as a person, become positive, and helped me achieve a goal I didn’t think I would be able to achieve. Here I am now, expecting my first child and I am so grateful my journey allowed us to cross paths.

Iris is amazing to work with! She was very easy to talk to and helped make the whole process less overwhelming. Definitely would recommend going to see her.

I highly recommend acupuncture to all fertility patients. I truly believe this was part of our successful journey with RFC Corona. Everyone struggling with fertility should come see Iris!

Rita A.

When my husband and I started on this journey, about 15 months ago, we had already been trying to naturally conceive for over two years, with no success. We thought that a significant part of that may have been my high-stress, 70-hours-a-week job, but even on vacation or other stress-free breaks, we were unable to conceive.

I also was struggling with serious fatigue issues. My primary care doctor ordered a slew of blood tests, from cortisol levels to vitamin D, and everything came back normal.

So when I first started treatment at RFC, I was excited to learn about acupuncture — an area of medicine I was not familiar with. I attended a webinar the very same week we had our initial consultation with Dr. Park. In the webinar, I learned about the treatment of the body as a whole to ensure that there’s enough energy and resources for the reproductive system to work at its best.

I started acupuncture treatment with Iris Lee and started with diagnostic evaluation and monitoring with Dr. Park. We quickly learned we had two major fertility obstacles—low ovarian reserve and endometriosis. My AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) level was 0.55, which is more typically seen in a 43- or 44-year-old, and I was 38 at the time. I also had sizable endometriomas (cysts caused by ectopic endometrial tissue within the ovary) on both ovaries. Needless to say, the odds were not in our favor.

After working with Iris and Dr. Park for 5-6 months, my overall health and energy improved. We decided to proceed with our first egg retrieval and planned a second egg retrieval to immediately follow the first. Between both retrievals, we had a total of 5 embryos make it to Day 5, so we could test them. The tests came back with good news: we had a beautiful, chromosomally normal embryo, giving us a 70% chance of pregnancy.

We were so excited that we decided to try for another embryo before trying a transfer so that we would potentially have the option for a second child. For a variety of reasons, we waited a few months, so I had about 10 months of acupuncture and herbal treatment before this third retrieval. It was the most successful retrieval we ever had in terms of the number of eggs retrieved (10)! We were blessed with another high-quality, chromosomally-normal embryo (plus a “bonus” embryo for which the test results were inconclusive).

Now that we had the chance at two children, we proceeded with transferring the very first chromosomally normal embryo we had retrieved from the second cycle. After some Lupron treatment for the endometriosis and a hysteroscopy to closely examine the uterus, we transferred the embryo one month before my 40th birthday. 9 days later, I was confirmed as successfully pregnant.

We are now nearing the completion of the first trimester of a healthy pregnancy, and every aspect of our baby’s growth (heartbeat, size, etc.) is perfectly on track. And we still have a high-quality, chromosomally normal embryo waiting for us. I attribute this overwhelming success to the combination of extended acupuncture treatment, healthy diet and exercise, and the expert medical care provided by the RFC team.

From Day 1, I always had a sense of investment and focus on my fertility goals with Iris. There were ups and downs in my 6 months of care with Iris, but ultimately, with her encouragement and recommendations, I got my body and lifestyle in a much healthier place to where I am now 13 weeks pregnant! I couldn’t have done it without her motivation and expertise! Thank you so much to all the staff that has helped us get this far!

Patient

I experienced recurrent pregnancy loss after our failed transfer. I read on best ways to prevent miscarriages and acupuncture was top on the list. So, when we transferred our last embryo, I called Iris right away. She enlightened me about other factors, such as my constant coldness, and treated me accordingly. She played a huge role in our success. Hearing his heartbeat was the best experience in my life and I truly wouldn’t have gotten here without Dr. Lin, Iris & the RFC team.

Leslie P.

My husband and I are so grateful to have found Iris! She has completely changed our fertility journey. After 3 miscarriages and a canceled IVF cycle, we are expecting our triple rainbow baby naturally. We can’t thank Iris enough for all her help and always staying so hopeful.

Emily K.

Starting acupuncture with Iris after my first failed transfer was the very best decision I could have made. Iris made me feel in control of my next transfer experience as much as I could have been. I learned so much and loved every minute. Not to mention my dream came true, and my 2nd transfer was successful. If nothing else, it help significantly reduce my stress and anxiety.
