What is fertility acupuncture?
Fertility acupuncture is an integrative medicine that helps improve your reproductive health. By taking a holistic approach, fertility acupuncture not only supports your reproductive system but also helps balance your entire body.
Our fertility-specialized acupuncturists offer personalized treatments to each patient, aiming to enhance your overall well-being. Our goal is to prepare your body the produce the highest quality eggs and sperm while ensuring that your whole-body system fully supports reproduction, free from the distractions of other bodily processes.

We are here to listen, care, and provide you with high-quality treatment by addressing the root causes of your fertility challenges and presenting the best treatment plan for you. When is the best time to start fertility acupuncture?
When you start dreaming about having a baby and growing your family, that’s the best time to start fertility acupuncture. At RFC, we highly encourage our patients to do 3 months of preconception care, which is the recommended duration to prepare your body for successful conception.
During preconception care, we are focused on optimizing your condition to be the best suited for pregnancy – it’s just like studying before an important exam or preparing before a game. When doing preconception care, the goal is not only to get a positive pregnancy test but to achieve a healthy pregnancy by minimizing the chances of miscarriage and complications.
Our team of fertility coaches and acupuncturists is here to provide personalized coaching services that cover nutrition, supplements, and the promotion of a fertility-friendly lifestyle, all while incorporating fertility acupuncture to help you achieve your dreams of family.
If you are already in an IUI or IVF cycle...
We encourage you to schedule an initial consultation at your earliest convenience, as it allows us enough time to facilitate improvements before you take your next step. Our main focus will be on enhancing the quality of your eggs or sperm, creating a supportive uterine environment, and providing assistance with insemination or embryo transfer. We’re here to help you optimize implantation and provide targeted treatments at each step of your fertility journey with genuine care and support.
How does acupuncture support male infertility?
Fertility coaching can help you adjust to a fertility-friendly lifestyle and provide guidance with supplements and natural herbs to boost male fertility. There are various factors that can decrease sperm count, mobility, and morphology such as exposure to excessive heat, stress, smoking, poor nutrition, certain medications, overweight, fatigue, and more.
Acupuncture aids the root of the problem and helps improve your chances of success. Acupuncture promotes hormone balance, opens blockages, enhances energy, reduces stress and anxiety, and assists chronic illness.
We recommend that patients consider scheduling a consultation for acupuncture if they have been diagnosed with a condition or are currently taking medication to manage:
- Erectile dysfunction
- Retrograde Ejaculation
- Varicocele
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Hyperlipidemia
- Obesity Digestive Disorder
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes, acupuncture is safe during pregnancy! It provides patients relief from pregnancy-related symptoms and that’s why many patients choose to continue acupuncture from preconception to throughout their first trimester and return in the second or third trimesters if they need additional support.
There have been many studies and research that have proved that acupuncture is a safe and effective method to support pregnant women with morning sickness, lower back pain, emotional discomfort, and even labor pain.
We recommend that patients consider acupuncture for labor preparation toward the end of their third trimester, as it can help prepare their bodies for a smoother and less complicated labor experience.
Postpartum is considered the ‘4th trimester,’ but it is often overlooked and forgotten about. During the 12 weeks after having a baby, a new mother should prioritize postpartum recovery to restore her health. It is a critical time in that it can impact their next fertility journey as well as their long-term health and well-being. Acupuncture combined with herb remedies can help restore and rejuvenate new mothers after they have given birth.
Acupuncture helps postpartum women in at least 3 ways:
- Milk Supply
New moms may experience low milk supply or insufficient milk supply. This can make it challenging for mothers to feed their babies the proper amount of nutrition, which can lead to frustration and stress. Acupuncture is a safe and natural way to help boost milk production. - Uterus and Reproductive Organs Nourishment
After childbirth, acupuncture can help nourish the uterus and other reproductive organs. Childbirth is a natural and major event. Your body needs time and nourishment to restore its balance. Acupuncture plays a significant role in your postpartum recovery, offering valuable support, especially as you transition back to your regular menstrual cycle, preventing any future menstrual cycle irregularities. - Relax and Rejuvenate
New motherhood brings joy, excitement, and bliss. However, it is often a time when new mothers tend to neglect their own self-care. Through a holistic approach that addresses both the mind and body, acupuncture treatments promote a sense of calmness, helping to ground your spirit during the challenges of new motherhood. Acupuncture revitalizes your energy, allowing a quicker healing process and leaving you feeling more energetic and vibrant as you care for your baby.
Our acupuncturists not only focus on acupuncture but also nutrition. We create customized treatment plans for each of our patients which include nutritional guidelines. A quality diet helps ease the postpartum stage and is beneficial to you and your newborn.
Acupuncture can help with various conditions related to women’s health. At RFC, we are fertility-focused acupuncturists who specialize in balancing female hormones, addressing symptoms such as irregular periods, heavy bleeding, clotting, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), and conditions like cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) that can be associated with hormonal imbalances.
In addition to addressing female hormone imbalance, we also help patients with:
- Thyroid Disorders: Our acupuncturists can help address the symptoms of thyroid disorders such as Hyper and Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, and Parathyroid Disease. Acupuncture combined with herbal remedies effectively adjusts hormone imbalances and restores thyroid functions.
- Anxiety and depression: Acupuncture brings mental tranquility and a peaceful mind. We also prescribe natural herbs and supplements to support your mental health effectively.
- Insomnia: Acupuncture increases melatonin secretion and improves your sleeping quality. It helps slow down your busy mind by inducing relaxation.
- Migraines and Neck / Shoulder pain: Acupuncture assists in releasing muscle tension on the neck and shoulders as it adjusts energy flow to ease the intensity and frequency of migraines.
- Digestive disorders: Acupuncture effectively improves symptoms like acid reflux, heartburn, gastritis, nausea, bloating, belching, SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
- Lower back pain: Acupuncture is an excellent way to relieve lower back pain. Since lower back pain is closely related to reproductive energy in Eastern Medicine, we can help boost your reproductive energy while also treating your lower back pain.
